The historic Kan’s Restaurant was a lounge that hosted the biggest names in the showbiz whenever they stopped by San Francisco. Hosted by Johnny Kan, a restaurateur impresario who was frequently regarded as an outsider by the neighborhood but nevertheless did everything to represent Chinatown with pride, the restaurant has since long sat empty on Grant Ave.
